Town of Prosper Planning Annual Christmas Festival
Christmas in August? Not quite! However, the Town of Prosper is already making plans for this year’s Prosper Country Christmas event. Festivities are set for Saturday, December 8th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event will be held on Broadway Street, west of Coleman Street (Business 289), with downtown Prosper being closed to through traffic during the celebration.
Strolling carolers, gifts and crafts, a petting zoo and pony rides, face painting, bounce house, and visitors from the North Pole will be part of the evening’s events. Local businesses are encouraged to participate by remaining open, and are asked to flip the switch on their Christmas lights as the Town’s Christmas tree is lit. Be sure to mark the date on your calendar! The Town is looking for local merchants who would like to set up a booth. We are interested in three types of vendors. First, merchandise vendors with products that festival-goers can purchase for Christmas gifts. For example, we have signed up vendors for massage gift certificates, Homemade Gourmet and Pampered Chef products, jewelry, Italian glass items, and custom-made lip gloss and lotions that the kids can create themselves. Are you an artist? A woodworker? Do you make holiday decorations? If so, we want to talk to you! Second, service vendors, with products such as interior decorating, faux painting, blind & shutter installations, and other items that new home owners need. Finally, food vendors to provide meals, treats, and/or beverages to the festival goers. All vendors must supply their own table, chairs, and a canopy (if desired). A copy of their current State sales tax certificate is required. Food vendors must apply for a temporary health permit ($50) and must follow Texas Food Establishment Rules. (All food vendor questions should be directed to David Ledwitz, Code Enforcement Officer, at 972-347-3160, or e-mail to david_ledwitz@prospertx.gov.) Other than the health permit, there is no fee to the vendors participating in this event. We would like to provide prizes in random drawings throughout the evening. If you would be interested in donating a gift certificate or product from your business, we would love to speak with you about it. If you would like to participate in our Prosper Country Christmas event, either with a booth or a donation, please contact Karen Gill at 972-346-2640, or by e-mail at karen_gill@prospertx.gov. ![]()
